Parenting Care and Early Intervention Programme
The Parenting Care Programme is one of OSNET’s early intervention initiatives designed to support children aged 0–5 years with developmental delays, disabilities, or other special educational needs before they enter primary school. OSNET recognises that early identification and intervention are critical in helping children develop the skills they need to participate fully in family, community, and educational settings.
Through the programme, OSNET works closely with parents and caregivers to identify children who may require additional support and provide appropriate early intervention services. These include rehabilitation, developmental support, psychosocial therapy, communication support, and guidance for parents and caregivers, based on each child’s individual needs.
Parents are also supported with practical strategies that they can use at home to promote their child’s communication, mobility, social interaction, independence, and early learning. Where necessary, children are referred to or linked to appropriate professionals and specialised services for further assessment and intervention.
Despite the importance of these services, OSNET continues to face a shortage of specialised professionals, including therapists and other rehabilitation practitioners. This limits the number of children and families that can receive regular specialised support.
OSNET therefore welcomes volunteers and professionals who are willing to contribute their skills and expertise to the Parenting Care and Early Intervention Programme. Professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, special needs educators, and other relevant specialists are encouraged to support the programme.
